de Bijenkorf: Gift Finder

Design Challenge

In 2020 I did my thesis about the gifting season at de Bijenkorf while my design challenge was:

How can de Bijenkorf’s visitors be digitally assisted during Christmas season in finding a suitable gift, while experiencing the luxury feeling of de Bijenkorf without being overwhelmed by too many product choices?

Research

Based on the research findings, I came to the conclusion that inspiration, personalization and a digital shopping experience are crucial factors for the target audience. This led to the development of the concept for the gift finder.

Gift Finder

The final outcome is a gift page where users can search for gifts in various ways, depending on their occasion.

This concept offers several functionalities to help users find the perfect gift. The main features are:
– Via a quiz which is done through segmentation

– Inspiration from the store page

– Categorized gift themes.

Feature 1: Segmentation

The segmentation feature allows users to receive personalized gift suggestions based on their answers to specific questions.

Feature 2: Inspiration from store

The inspiration from the store section enables users to explore curated content created by experts. The content consists of clickable images that leads to the product page.

Feature 3: Themes

Lastly, the categorized gift themes provide users a selection of themes to filter through and discover relevant gift options.
